Are Lunarpages Complaints Justified?

I have heard that some Lunarpages customers had problems? Some are saying the LunarPages are a bad host. Have you had a bad experience of Lunarpages? If so I would like to hear. If you have read bad reviews about Lunarpages then read on as you may think Lunarpages suck or are a scam.

I question if a lot of these negative reviews can really be trusted. I have accounts with over 50 web hosts, and I can say that although Lunarpages, are not perfect, they are a perfectly good web host for your personal blog or business website. Indeed they have a number of attractive options to make these projects ridiculously easy foreven a beginner, to start up.

Judging by Google searches, for say “lunarpages complaints” or even “lunarpages reviews” there seem to be a lot of unhappy customers out there. You might think thats a lot of bad comment for one web host, but bear in mind they host over 150,000 websites! You do not build up to that size of client base by being rubbish! Also people tend to go to more effort to posting a bad review. Really happy customers tend to represent a silent majority.

So I wouldn’t dismiss Lunarpages, just yet. It is still one of the “top notch” web hosting providers in the world today. Perhaps you need to read some more Lunarpages reviews elsewhere or just say “what the heck” and  give them a try. It doesn’t cost a lot of money in these difficult times, to “taste” a web host  with so many tempting offers around.

From experience I can tell you that Lunarpages do exactly what a hosting company should do. For example they do actually answer the telephones which is  a rareity!  If you do want to speak with a human being over a support issue, you can.  I’m not saying that you will get through, straight away, and you may have to wait some time for Lunarpages support to get back to you, but its possible. If you are looking for that true 1:1 experience, then perhaps look for a smaller host. However this is likely to be much more expensive. A high level of one to one support costs!

Also I can testify that that Lunarpages, not only answer phones but respond to emails and tickets, as well. Also it has live chats. By the way, don’t abuse the live chat service. Live chat is only efficient for “quickie” support queries. Anything more complex and you should raise a full support ticket. In fact I prefer a support ticket to the phone because then you have instructions already written down for use again in the future.

Lunarpages also got some of the best hosting packages around. Their Linux, Windows VPS and Dedicated Servers are some of the most attractive offerings around (if you are looking for more ambitious hosting than say a cheap shared hosting plan).

By the way a lot of hosts are offering “unlimited plans” at the moment. I think this can lead to problems and a lot misunderstandings even though Lunarpages are no exception in this respect. This is due to intense competition, however if you read the small print, you will almost always find that the package is unlimited but subject to a resource limit of say 5 or 10%.

Traditionally Web Hosting has been sold by disc space and bandwidth, so you need to be wary. Also bear in mind that you will quite often  hit a CPU or memory barrier, long before you can take advantage of the bandwidth and disc space. This isn’t a con and all web hosts have these limits! If they didn’t they would go out of business. The resource limits also protect you as a shared hoster in case someone elses site on the server starts hogging all the server processor power (CPU) and memory (RAM). You have help yourself by running more efficient code, and with the aid of caching (in the case of Wordpress).

Its the way things have moved on. Almost all websites are dynamic in some way and using scripting and databases to generate web pages. For example Wordpress and Joomla sites that make use of PHP and MySQL. This results in web hosts not only being squeezed on price, but unable to host anywhere near as many sites than they could in the says of mainly static html pages.

Also if you are hesitant, Lunarpages comes with a full 30-day money back guarantee so there really is very little risk if you want to try out a new blog, build a corporate portal, or put togethor a simply Adsense site, to get a bit income from Google.  Currently Lunarpages starts its Unlimited Space and Bandwidth offer at only $4.95/month. There are also various price promotions (see above).

So don’t delay, get started at Lunarpages, today!
